Can Shopping be a form of therapy?
I was eating breakfast with a close friend one day at a local restaurant when I began to feel light headed. Drink some orange juice Lucy said your face looks kinda pale. We had planned a fun day of shopping and I was really looking forward to it. Do you want to go home my friend asks and I quickly think um no! Are you crazy? We planned this get together for weeks I’ll be fine lets do this! As I stepped into Dillards ( for you northerners amazing department store in the south!) The store was packed full of shoppers, the blood starts to rush to my head oh my god Lucy I shout. Are you okay what is it? I said they are having 50% off on purses I don’t know which color to get?
Dizziness, weakness, gone! I was full of euphoria taking in all the sites and sounds of store. The pink kate spade purse it must be mine! Shopping for me has always been about the feeling it evokes and not so much about the purchase. Call me names Shopping Queen, Purse Hoarder, Shoeaholic nothing beats that feeling of pure joy I feel while shopping. Can shopping have really made me feel better? Did my mind whisper to my body its time to feel happy? They say certain colors can evoke a particular feeling in the brain, did all those colors of the purses on sale trigger endorphins?
My Shopping advice?
- Make sure you eat protein before your shopping marathon begins!
- If the shoe fits buy it!
- Never pay full price save some money for the next shopping adventure!
