I’ve always loved shopping and often wondered does your childhood really shape certain activities you will love to do later in life? I grew up on the Northshore of Massachusetts and we had a local Marshall’s store that my mom would frequent. She would always see friends there and start chatting away with them talking about the local gossip. On some occasions with one of her good friends we would gather & load up all of us kids and off we would go to several different locations around the Boston area in search of shopping gold, bargains galore!
Flash forward to today and not only do we have Marshalls here in New England but now we have TjMaxx & Homegoods & a host of other stores to shop at. As a matter of fact the company has their headquarters here in New England. If the truth be told I secretly dream about doing a behind the scenes tour of the TJX company in Framingham. Does this make me a shopping stalker? If the shoe fits right? Shopping is such a versatile activity it is one of those things you can do alone or with a bunch of girlfriends. Whether you are celebrating something or feeling down shopping has a way of making you live in the moment.
Today with all the choices in shopping a lot of people are opting to shop online. For me the memories of my childhood driving around to different stores has really stuck with me and I prefer to go in person. One of my favorite things to do on a day off is to plan a certain area to go to where my favorite stores are and go looking for that bargain! I completely loose track of time, my mind begins to wander as I check out the stores new finds. You are probably thinking how materialistic right?
I do believe I inherited the shopping gene from my mom, my brother on the other hand not so much! I think the opposite effect took place for him but that’s okay I will be happy to take his place! What are your shopping memories as a child?
