NEW ENGLAND ROAD TRIP

August 28, 2018 | Written by: Sherry

Fall in New England is like no other the crisp air, the leaves with gorgeous colors of yellow, red & orange and my personal favorite local fairs where you can shop, shop & did I mention shop?

Every year I like to find a new fair to venture out to. The difficulty is that every weekend around New England there are so many sometimes the hardest part is deciding which one you & your wallet should go to. Good problem to have right?

This year I joined Instagram and came across Purple Rose Home I instantly loved their feed with their gorgeous vintage style. I hit my follow button and low in behold I find out it’s a mother/daughter duo and they have a shop in Massachusetts! I was planning on taking a trek out to their shop when they posted information about a fair called The Profound Market in Lancaster the last weekend in September.  I began following theprofoundmarket on Instagram and as they added new vendors to the fair I started following them. This was exciting I was meeting all these new accounts on Instagram and each one was more beautiful than the next. I marked my calendar and mapped out the ride to Lancaster. (I admit I had no clue where this town was being from the North Shore)

The day had come and I was so excited to get on the road and see something new. Me & my wallet were ready. As I got off the highway I came across a beautiful town called Bolton. Gorgeous estates & an apple farm were the view out my window (note to self-stop & get an apple cider donut on the way home at Bolton Spring Farm) I drove a little further and there it  was the Kalon Farm with all the gorgeous white tents for The Profound Market. I parked my car in the grass fields and began my trek up the hill. I could feel the excitement, the adrenaline rushing through my body, I whispered to my wallet get ready you are going to get a work out today my friend.

The first booth I saw was Vintage Anthropology & the Cozy Cottage Home Décor, both of the ladies who run it  could not have been more welcoming & friendly. Their booth was full of vintage inspiration & I started a pile of goodies that would be going home with me.

My brain was on vintage goodies overload as I began to walk around the profound market fair. One thing that stood out to me as I was strolling through the aisles was a sense of community, everyone seemed happy and every booth was beautifully staged with gorgeous vignettes to arouse ones inner decor soul. You could feel the love & passion each and everyone of the vendors had put into making their booth special.

Vintage Prairie Home her booth was amazing, lots of flowers, amazing pillows (of course I had to buy one)

Laurel Grove Shop this was the daughter of one of the owners. She offered to hold my purchases while I continued to shop. As I only brought two arms with me on this outing I eagerly replied YES! Her vignettes were  stunning (note to self you must visit her shop in Sudbury )

These ladies from Twine & Vines were delightful they make these handmade signs (of course I had to get one. Are we seeing a pattern here? I am not a DIYer I call myself a BIYer (buy it yourself) so this booth was perfect for me!

Boxwood Garden display had a stunning view of the farm fields. They gave me information on another show coming up in December (my eyes lit up on this one, my poor wallet was mumbling something but I chose to ignore that one. Note to self buy a new wallet perhaps one that has a zipper on it!)

Avenue C Design, I missed seeing the owner of this booth  they do custom hand painted signs as you can see from the photo their work is simply gorgeous! Apparently they have a shop filled with vintage & handcrafted consigned goods.

Some of the amazing goodies I immediately put to good use on my front porch below.

Evidently The Profound Market  all started with Four women with a passion for vintage and the  belief that they could do more together than any of them could do alone. I had no clue it was the first year everything was extremely well organized & I heard the rumor they may do a Spring one next year. (Happy Spring Dance)

Below please find the contact information for the amazingly hard working, creative people & places I came across on my recent journey. Small businesses are near & dear to my heart and have a way of making you feel special while you are in their presence.  If you live in the New England area or are looking to plan a visit I encourage you to explore something new it just might bring you to your happy place like it did for me!
