Do you love everything coastal but don’t live by the ocean? Do you want to bring some coastal style with you wherever you are? I love the ocean but sometimes I am landlocked but want to feel a little ocean breeze beside me so here are 3 simple ways to bring a little sand & sea wherever you may be. Hey does that rhyme?
- Craft Sand
What a great invention, it has the look & feel of sand without all the smelly sea creatures tagging along. You can go to stores like Target or Michaels. I like to decorate vases with sand & add shells. The trick is to keep the shell color in the same color palette or size this way you have a nice uniformed look.
- Posters & Cards
Every time I travel or come across a great coastal scene or image that’s inspiring in the form of a poster or card I purchase it & frame it. It’s a great inexpensive way to bring some coastal style to your office, guest room in your home or even to give as a gift. I have a whole box full of pretty cards & picture frames that I will pull out for different seasons. You could definitely say I am a serial photo frame collector. Stores like Homegoods, TJmaxx, & Marshalls carry the best selection. Usually they carry each season for a limited time so if you see something you like I usually like to buy it and figure out later on when & where I will use it.
- Chachkies (Yiddish for trinkets or collectives aka stuff your husband things are unnecessary )
I love getting little coastal chachkies like mini beach chairs, pool slides & flip flops and adding them to different areas of the house OR office to bring a little summer spirit inside. Check out the children toy section at your local store for doll-house items if you are looking for cute mini size items.
What coastal living ideas do you use to bring that summer feeling with you?
